Flagstaff Shipping Container House
A house in a mixed-use neighborhood is constructed from six recycled shipping containers as well as other repurposed materials, to provide a 2 bedroom, 2 studio home in historic downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. Designed in collaboration with Ecosa Institute in Prescott, Arizona, it makes use of other basic principles of sustainability as well: rain- and snow-water collection, drought-resistant landscape, passive solar heating and solar collection, and natural ventilation for cooling. It is an urban-infill project in a walkable environment that makes reference to the railroad, to which it is adjacent.
